The Virginia State Bar, the regulatory agency for the legal profession in Virginia, has an immediate opening for a highly motivated and experienced trial attorney within the Office of Bar Counsel. The Office regulates the legal profession through the review, investigation, and trial of disciplinary complaints. Responsibilities include reviewing complaints of misconduct; analyzing investigative reports; presenting recommendations; and trying misconduct cases before district committees, the Disciplinary Board, and circuit courts. This position may also develop and present continuing legal education programs for various groups and participate in special assignments. Litigation Attorney Key Responsibilities:

Associate – Richmond

We are seeking an Associate to join our legal team in Richmond, VA. This is a full-time, on-site role. The Associate will handle a variety of family law cases, including but not limited to divorce, custody, support, and mediation matters. Responsibilities include conducting client consultations, drafting legal documents, preparing for hearings, negotiating settlements, and representing clients in court. The position also involves legal research, maintaining client communication, and collaborating with team members to ensure exceptional service.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in Virginia
• Legal practice skills, including case analysis, client counseling, legal strategy development, and courtroom representation
• Strong research and writing abilities, including drafting legal documents, briefs, and correspondence
• Negotiation and mediation skills, with the ability to address sensitive family matters professionally and empathetically
• Time management and organizational skills to handle multiple cases and deadlines effectively
• Collaboration and interpersonal skills to work closely with clients, colleagues, courthouse staff, and opposing counsel
• Experience in family law and familiarity with alternative dispute resolution methods not required, but welcomed
• Litigation Experience preferred
